Formic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula HCOOH and a molecular weight of 46.03. It is commonly known as formic acid and is the simplest carboxylic acid. Formic acid is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is a weak electrolyte, but its aqueous solution is weakly acidic and highly corrosive and can stimulate skin blistering.
