Sodium sulfide is an important chemical raw material with various uses:


In the rubber industry, sodium sulfide is used as a vulcanizing accelerator for rubber, which can crosslink with rubber molecules, improve the heat resistance, aging resistance, and mechanical properties of rubber. It is commonly used as a vulcanizing agent for natural rubber and synthetic rubber. 


In the field of mineral flotation, sodium sulfide can be used as a flotation agent for metal sulfides to separate metal ions from ores. 


In dye synthesis, sodium sulfide is a reducing agent used to reduce dye precursors to compounds with dye groups, and is used to produce sulfur dyes such as sulfur blue and sulfur blue. 


In drug synthesis, sodium sulfide is used as a reducing agent to promote the synthesis of certain drugs such as heparin and anticancer drugs. 


In the treatment of metal materials, sodium sulfide is used as a quenching medium for steel to prevent hydrogen embrittlement, and as a deoxidizer and alloying element in aluminum alloy processing. 


In the leather industry, sodium sulfide is used for dehairing and bleaching of raw hides, and as a paper cooking agent in the papermaking industry.


In the textile industry, sodium sulfide is used as a mordant for denitrification of artificial fibers and reduction of nitrates, as well as for dyeing cotton fabrics.


In the chemical reagent industry, sodium sulfide is used to prepare products such as hydrogen sulfide and sodium thiosulfate.


In the electroplating industry, sodium sulfide is used for the treatment of the conductive layer in direct electroplating.


In addition, sodium sulfide is also used in military industry, water treatment (removal of heavy metal ions), alkaline etching of aluminum and alloys, and hardness analysis in nitrogen fertilizer production
