Sodium hydroxide is corrosive to fibers, skin, glass, ceramics, etc. It releases heat when dissolved or when a concentrated solution is diluted. It can also generate a lot of heat when it reacts with inorganic acids to generate corresponding salts. It reacts with metal aluminum and zinc, non-metal boron and silicon to release hydrogen. It undergoes disproportionation reactions with halogens such as chlorine, bromine, and iodine. It can precipitate metal ions from aqueous solutions to form hydroxides. It can cause oils and fats to undergo saponification reactions to generate corresponding organic acid sodium salts and alcohols, which is the principle of removing oil stains from fabrics.
Product application scope
1. Used in papermaking and cellulose pulp production; used in the production of soap, synthetic detergents, synthetic fatty acids, and the refining of animal and vegetable oils.
2. Used as a desizing agent, scouring agent, and mercerizing agent for cotton cloth in the textile printing and dyeing industry

Sodium hydroxide should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 35°C and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. The packaging must be sealed and must not be exposed to moisture. It should be stored separately from flammable (combustible) materials, acids, etc., and must not be mixed. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leaks. Solid sodium hydroxide is packed in a 0.5 mm thick steel drum and sealed tightly, with a net weight of no more than 100 kg per drum; a fully open or medium-open steel drum outside a plastic bag or a two-layer kraft paper bag; an ordinary wooden box outside a threaded glass bottle, an iron-capped pressed glass bottle, a plastic bottle or a metal barrel (can); a full-bottom lattice box, a fiberboard box or a plywood box outside a threaded glass bottle, a plastic bottle or a tinned thin steel plate barrel (can); a corrugated box outside a tinned thin steel plate barrel (can), a metal barrel (can), a plastic bottle or a metal hose. The packaging container must be complete and sealed, with a clear "corrosive item" mark.
Isolate the leaked contaminated area and set up warning signs around it. It is recommended that emergency response personnel wear gas masks and chemical protective clothing. Add a small amount to a large amount of water, adjust to neutral, and then put it into the wastewater system. You can also rinse it with a large amount of water and put the diluted washing water into the wastewater system. In case of a large amount of leakage, collect and recycle it or dispose of it harmlessly.
