Borax powder

Borax is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Na2[B4O5(OH)4]·8H2O, which can be abbreviated as Na2B4O7·10H2O. The molecular weight is 381.372. It is white or colorless crystal or powder, slightly sweet and salty. It easily loses crystal water in the air and weathers into white powder. Borax is widely used in industrial and agricultural production.

Uses

Glass and enamel industry
In glass, it can enhance the transmittance of ultraviolet rays, improve the transparency and heat resistance of glass. In enamel products, it can make the enamel not easy to fall off and make it shiny. It is also widely used in special optical glass, glass fiber, non-ferrous metal welding agent, jewelry adhesive, printing and dyeing, washing (silk and wool fabrics, etc.), gold refining, cosmetics, pesticides, fertilizers, borax soap, preservatives, antifreeze and medical disinfectants. 

Industrial field
In industry, borax is also used as a solid lubricant for metal drawing. In the welding and maintenance of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and other refrigeration equipment, it is often used as (inactive) flux to remove oxides on the metal surface; a certain proportion of sodium chloride is added to borax. Compounds such as sodium fluoride and potassium chloride can be used as active flux for welding copper pipes and steel pipes, and steel pipes and steel pipes in refrigeration equipment.
