Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) is an anionic surfactant with excellent performance, which can be obtained from coconut. The molecular formula is R(OCH2CH2)nOSO3Na (R is 12 alkyl), a light yellow viscous liquid, easily soluble in water, with excellent cleaning, emulsification and foaming properties. It has good thickening properties and foaming ability. For example, adding 2%~5% sodium chloride can easily increase the viscosity of the SLES system. It is commonly used in daily chemical industries such as liquid washing, table washing, shampoo, bath washing, and also in textile, papermaking, leather, machinery, oil extraction and other industries. In cosmetics, SLES is somewhat irritating and is not suitable for long-term use on sensitive skin and dry skin.
